Below are the categories for the types of personalities most anime characters fall into. Here are what they generally mean:

Loli/Shota ~ Loli is for a female, Shota is for a male. These characters are cute, short, and innocent. They are very caring and often make good friends because they can put up with most people types.

Tsundere ~ Characters who come off as cold, blunt, and short-tempered on the outside, but on the inside, is kind, caring, and gentle at all costs to those they are close to. They only ever show this side to those they are close to or care about. They are often protective and can, at some times, seem distant, lost in their own worlds from time to time.

Yandere ~ These characters are bipolar. A yandere character usually has a lot of mood swings. They have a nice side and an evil side, they are their own opposite. Everyday is different with these kind of people, they are unpredictable.

Kuudere ~ A character that is cold, blunt, and cynical. Some have a soft inner side, but then again, some are just cold and blunt with no softness anywhere. The difference between Kuudere and Tsundere is, like I just said, they usually don't have any sort of soft side, or at least, will never show it under any circumstance.

Dandere ~ A character that is always quiet, which is usually associated with shyness. They can have different kinds of inner emotions, but they won't show it. It is VERY hard to get a grip on their actual thoughts and emotions because they never show them properly.
